Morpho portis

There are over 80 species of Morpho butterflies in the world. The name Morpho literally means beautiful. A Morpho can be found in shades of blue and white iridescent, with brown wings that had two round spots looking like eyes. These spots are called ocelli and used as a defense. When predators approach, a Morpho will close its wing and almost vanish into the foliage. Morphos live in the rainforest canopy, rarely to be seen fluttering around the forest floor. It is believed that if a Blue Morpho lands on you, your wishes come true.  As all of our specimens are real the look of the specimen will vary slightly.
